Dear readers,
Date: 21/11/2024

This workshop is designed to empower public sector professionals with practical skills in natural language processing (NLP) and data visualisation, focusing on how these tools can foster citizen engagement. You'll follow a real-life use case and learn how to leverage open-source data and tools available in BDTI to transform citizen feedback into actionable insights.
🗓️ Date: 11 December 2024
💡 Topic: Natural Language Processing & Data Visualisation for Citizen Participation
✅ Register: Book your spot here.
The workshop will introduce the basics of natural language processing, covering key concepts such as text analysis, sentiment analysis, and named entity recognition. You will see demonstrations of how these techniques can be applied to citizen feedback to extract meaningful data from large-scale surveys and identify trends.
The data we'll use consists of responses from the city of Vantaa’s (Finland) annual participation surveys conducted in 2020, 2021 and 2022. These surveys try to measure the satisfaction, involvement and influence of citizens in local governance (among other things). You will learn how to use open-source tools to extract and visualise some insights from these responses.
The workshop will include live demonstrations, practical exercises, and opportunities to ask questions. By the end, participants will have a solid understanding of how to use NLP and data visualisation to enhance citizen participation and make data-driven decisions.
Whether you're looking to explore the possibilities of NLP or improve your data storytelling skills, this workshop will help you get started with beginner-friendly, hands-on exercises.
Register now to secure your spot!
We look forward to seeing you there.
