Call to action

Request for action

We are contacting all Drupal projects that may have a high rate of sending marketing type e-mails, but which are not yet compliant with the recent Google and Yahoo recommendations.

Marketing e-mails can be e-mail that contain announcements of new content being published like news items, publications or even a revamp of the website. It can also be e-mails that invite the e-mail receivers to answer a survey or to take part in an event.

If you are not sending this type of e-mails(non-transactional), then no action is needed to be taken for your project.

In case your project is sending these type of e-mails, then the actions below will need to be implemented before the 1st of June 2024:

  1. Add the necessary headers to all non-transactional e-mails.

We recommend that you discuss with your development team and add the necessary headers to all the non-transactional e-mails that are being sent from your Drupal site as defined by RFC 2369 and RFC 8058.

  1. One click unsubscribe

The recipients must have the ability to unsubscribe from marketing e-mails in one click and the subscription process must be completed within two days.

Please be aware that we reserve our right to remove the possibility of sending  e-mails for projects, in case of repeated complaints or detection of mass marketing e-mails that are not respecting these rules.

If you require our support, or you want to make sure that you are following the rules, don't hesitate to contact us by DROPSEC Jira ticket and we will support you in being compliant with these new rules.
