FIBA WiLEAD webinar

On 18 February, Commissioner Gabriel took part in the first of the three WiLEAD (Women in Leadership) webinars, organised by FIBA to share the experiences and the professional challenges of women of high corporate and business repute, with the goal to inspire and unlock the potential in young leaders who require guidance and path-breaking ideas. Gender equality is a big priority for the EU and sports are the perfect ground to show that women can dream big and become leaders.

Commissioner Gabriel had the opportunity to stress that leadership is a great privilege: it is a matter of bringing people together, listening to the needs of the team, and making sure everyone feels motivated to do their best. Building something together with a team is empowering and nobody with the talent and skills to lead should be locked out – especially on the basis of gender. This is why gender equality is a big part of many EU programmes in the field of education: primarily Erasmus+, which is rooted exactly in the same spirit as projects like WiLEAD.
