On 11 February, Commissioner Gabriel met Nicolás Atanes Santos, a young Spanish student and founder of the Virus Matematico social movement, which aims to exploit the potential of social networks to raise awareness on the importance of STEM subjects and promote more practical teaching methods. They exchanged on the implementation of the European Education Area, with a particular focus on digital and STEM education. The Commission welcomes initiatives like Virus Matematico, gathering likeminded people who aspire to a better society, as the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our new generations are the most important resources for the future of Europe.
