Thanks to the support of a local member of its External Stakeholder Group, the project RENAISSANCE had the opportunity to test the RENAISSANCE approach in the first replication pilots in Vega de Valcarce, Spain. The project team organized a workshop dedicated to the creation of energy communities in early October 2021. This was the result of a joint effort of the association Revieval, the H2020 projects RENAISSANCE and SCORE as well as local authorities. The meeting took place in a new venue dedicated to multipurpose events, recently renovated to answer the need for local communities to gather.

During the workshop the MAMCA multi-stakeholder engagement methodology and the RENERGISE tool were presented, allowing village neighbours together with the municipality and local companies to discuss and evaluate multiple scenarios towards the set-up of a renewable energy community.

A consensus was reached on making it a reality and RENAISSANCE will continue supporting this pilot towards implementation. Energy Communities are meant to obtain economic and environmental benefits for their members, and this is where the RENAISSANCE approach can help, ensuring that all stakeholders’ needs are taken into consideration and that future scenarios and business models are weighted and developed accordingly.

RENAISSANCE team invites all the BRIDGE members to watch the project teaser video on YouTube and get in contact for further inquiries or feedback!
