ETIP SNET update

ETIP SNET invites the speakers to present their projects at the 12th ETIP SNET Regional Workshop that will take place on 22 June 2021.

The 12th Regional Workshop

On Tuesday, 22 June, the ETIP SNET is organising its 12th Regional Workshop which will dive into Europe’s energy transition through 4 parallel sessions. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to learn about R&I projects around Europe and contribute to the identification of R&I gaps, challenges and priorities.

CALL FOR PROJECTS

ETIP SNET has launched OPEN CALL FOR PROJECTS! ETIP SNET invites the speakers to present their project at the 12th ETIP SNET Regional Workshop that will take place on 22 June 2021.

EU, nationally and regionally funded R&I projects can apply for the CALL FOR PROJECTS in one or more of the following themes:

1) Market based Energy Systems

2) Integrated Energy Networks: focus on storage

3) Digitalisation as the Key Enabler

4) Consumer and Citizen Engagement

News from Working Groups 1-4

Multiple members of the WG1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be involved in the next Regional Workshop on 22 June 2021.


Working Group 1

The Work of the three Task Forces proceeds in parallel work streams organised in bi-weekly calls:

  • Hydrogen and grids: the content of the paper has been agreed upon by the participants, as well as a possible deadline for the first draft to be ready by Q3/Q4 2021;
  • E-mobility: the participants agreed on the paper content and the drafting has started. First draft foreseen for Q3/Q4 2021;
  • Flexibility for Resilience: cooperation with ISGAN Annex 6 ongoing. A questionnaire has been circulated among the TF participants and an internal workshop will take place on June 1st to brainstorm and agree on the paper content.

 

Working Group 2

The Working Group has collected feedback from its members on which Task Force they would like to join.

  • Development of KPIs for Energy storage applications
  • Development of circular economy approach in Energy Storage value chain
  • Members of WG2 will support WG3 on the White Paper with ETIP RHC
  • The next meeting will take place in June


Working Group 3

Working Group 3 had an internal workshop on Wednesday, May 12th with a special focus on the next steps from the WG to organise the drafting of the respective ETIP-RHC collaborated White Papers. The preliminary topics corresponding to the white papers are

  1. Renewables & Heat Generation
  2. Cogeneration
  3. Thermal Storage
  4. District Heating & Cooling (DHC)

Furthermore, WG3 is planning on having a joint workshop with the ETIP-RHC on Monday, June 7th to finalise the taskforces that will work on each individual white paper. The preliminary publishing date for the first of these White Papers will be the end of 2021.


Working Group 4


  • Election procedure for the Co-Chair position of ETIP SNET WG4 soon to be completed and by 7 June official communication to the selected candidate and start date of the mandate
  • The ETIP SNET Working Group 4 has continued its work on the development of 5+5 Digital Use Cases within its monthly calls. The first 5 Use Cases will be based on the BIG IDEA developed by the WG4 in the past years that aim at creating a “one-stop shop” for consumers to select the most suitable energy services. These first 5 Use cases will be focused on the Residential Customers as starting points, including consumers, prosumers and Energy communities, identifying the services to be provided, the architecture and the digital tools to use as enablers. A specific Task Force has been launched and is currently working on this matter.


Working Group 5

Has 2 new members within the WG.

 

WT


  • WT1 continues dealing with research infrastructure. The integration between the EIRE platform and the DERlab research infrastructure database will be completed soon.
  • WT2 continues dealing with regulation and standardization activities.
  • The group is now matching ETIP SNET technologies with their related standards. It will be completed at the end of June. All this information will be present on the EIRE platform.
  • WT3 is still working on developing a detailed classification of technologies and validating various projects within the reach of the members of the WT. They are also trying to re-word the description of every technology (It will be done within the next weeks), to make sure that it is no discrepancy after testing it with some projects. So that, they are trying to reword the description of every technology in order for a clear understanding.
  • WT4 was participating in the preparation of its participation in the past Regional Workshop, especially related to the questionnaire proposed to the projects and its related feedback. WT4 will deal with the feedback to upgrade and to further investigate it. Bilateral meetings are being arranged with those projects, one by one, to discuss the feedback of the questionnaire with them.
  • WT5 is keeping in touch with other international activities l, in order to know what is happening around (ISGAN, Mission Innovation…)
