10 April | Research & innovation for a competitive Europe

Join the livestreamed and in-person ERC event on Europe’s competitiveness with a focus on cutting-edge science & innovation on 10 April 16.30 in Brussels. The speakers are leaders from industry, politics and science - from the European Roundtable of Industry, SAP and Novo Nordisk to startups, from AI to quantum computing and genomics. ERC President at the World Economic Forum, Davos

This week, the ERC brings science to the discussions at the WEF annual meeting in Davos. ERC President Maria Leptin speaks on research security, and on AI and science, as well as in an ERC session on European competitiveness with, e.g. two Nobel laureates, an ERC grantee in AI and the Belgian Prime Minister. Several other ERC grantees speak in Davos too. Watch the debates.

 
8 November | ERC at Falling Walls Science Summit

The ERC will take part in Falling Walls, Berlin, on 8 November at 9.00 with a high-level plenary session on “Boosting Frontier Research: Europe's Next Move”, featuring four Ministers for research, a Nobel laureate and ERC grantee, an industry leader and the ERC President. March 2025 | Call for ERC grantees - ‘Science is Wonderful!’

We seek three grantees to participate in the next edition of ‘Science is Wonderful!’ in March 2025. This fair gives primary and secondary school pupils a chance to interact with leading researchers and innovators through games, experiments and quizzes. Applications close on 31 October 2024.

 
23 September | ERC President visits Poland

ERC President Maria Leptin will visit Warsaw on 23 September to meet science policy-makers, ERC grantees and the research community. ERC Scientific Council Member Leszek Kaczmarek and former ERC Vice-President Andrzej Jajszczyk - both from Poland - will also take part in the programme, as well as many ERC grantees and panel members. 9 October | ERC at the EU Week of Regions & Cities

The ERC will again bring pioneering science to the EU Week of Regions & Cities in two “EU Regions Talks” under the theme “Smart and sustainable growth for regions”. If you are in Brussels on that day, you can still register to take part in the sessions.

 
26-28 June | ERC Scientific Council in Bergen (Norway)

The University of Bergen hosted the ERC Scientific Council's plenary and a public event "Frontier Research in Norway" with e.g. ERC President Maria Leptin, Vice President Eystein Jansen, the Norwegian Research Minister and grantees. They discussed ERC funding, the need for research investment and more. Watch the recording.
