With spring on the horizon, February saw the very first Ecodesign Forum kick-off in Brussels, a brilliant new initiative aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
If you aren't yet aware of the ESPR, you can find more information here.
To sum up, it's an ambitious new law that will enhance product sustainability, reduce energy consumption and promote a circular EU economy, all while boosting industrial competitiveness.
It will also encourage innovation and strengthen the EU's reputation as a leader in sustainability.
The Forum is important because it brings together a wide range of relevant stakeholders, allowing the ESPR to be implemented in a transparent and participatory way.

The Commissioner also had the chance to meet with students in Sweden last week at the Youth Policy Dialogue as part of the Commission's new emphasis on dialogue and consultation. Those who took part raised a wide range of issues from the environment to the war in Ukraine.
Finally, 24 non-OECD countries submitted requests to import non-hazardous waste from the EU, after the rules changed last year following the introduction of the new Waste Shipments Regulation. Find out more here.
That's all for now folks. Until next time.
