The paper describes the set-up and implementation of the Eurograduate survey in Norway, as well as provides a constructive evaluation of their participation and implementation of the 2022 Eurograduate survey. In particular, it discusses a number of issues and challenges encountered during the implementation and how these could potentially be addressed in future rounds of a European higher education graduate survey. The paper concludes by suggesting a few points for future improvements to a European higher education graduate tracking survey:

  • A longer preparation phase is needed, at least two years before the survey is due to be launched.
  • Major framework decisions in the project, such as questionnaire, sampling and data storage after completion must be stated at the start of the project.
  • Work to improve response rates has to be prioritised, and a shorter questionnaire is probably the quickest and best way to achieve better response rates.
