Cedefop recently published a comparative analysis of the European framework for quality and effective apprenticeships (EFQEA), which covers 34 apprenticeship schemes in the 27 EU Member States, Iceland and Norway.
In its findings, Cedefop highlights that stronger social partner participation in decision-making and coordination can increase the likelihood of partners investing resources, creating a ‘virtuous cycle’ that improves apprenticeship quality and effectiveness.
However, the report also shows that several countries need broader and deeper coverage of EFQEA criteria. It is also important to examine connections between quality criteria and ensure key actors participate equally in governance, decision-making and coordination.
