Alongside digital and citizenship skills, literacy, numeracy and science provide essential foundations for lifelong learning and employability. Despite this, basic skills levels in Europe remain lower than in other regions, with some EU countries having seen a decline in the basic skills of school pupils in recent decades.
VET and apprenticeships are well placed to help address these challenges by supporting young and adult learners to strengthen their basic skills through practical learning. This is why EAfA is supporting its members and other stakeholders with the new EAfA Toolkit on strengthening basic skills through apprenticeships.
Alongside the toolkit, a webinar presenting it will take place on 19 November from 11:00-12:30 CET. During the webinar, speakers will share good practices in integrating basic skills development into apprenticeship programmes and discuss how the Toolkit can support VET providers and employers to integrate basic skills development into apprenticeships.
