A warm welcome to our newest EAfA members Egypt and Morocco
Date: 29/10/2026
Egypt and Morocco have joined the Alliance with strong commitments to increase the supply, quality and attractiveness of apprenticeships, while supporting apprentice mobility.
Building on Egypt Vision 2030 and its Technical Education 2.0 strategy, Egypt is committed to transforming its technical and VET system by moving from a purely academic approach towards work-based learning (WBL). This involves empowering schools and companies to co-design curricula that:
-
respond to market and technological shifts in areas such as green energy and artificial intelligence (AI);
-
align training schedules with company production cycles and seasonal demand; and
-
move from traditional exams towards competency-based evaluation verified by industry experts.
Morocco is seeking to expand access to VET and apprenticeships, particularly for young people and groups facing barriers to employment. As part of this effort, it has increased the age limits for access to apprenticeship training in selected occupations, including crafts, agriculture and maritime fishing. Morocco also supports the digital and green transitions by:
-
establishing training institutes for renewable energy and energy-efficiency occupations;
-
developing training programmes in digital, AI and green occupations;
-
modernising provision through a national digital-learning and e-learning system; and
-
rolling out the national Tadarroj apprenticeship programme, which aims to train 100 000 apprentices per year by 2030.
The addition of these two countries means EAfA membership now covers 46 countries - all working to advance apprenticeships, WBL and workforce reskilling.
