In 2024, the Veterinary Analytics team has been focusing on the implementation of the Veterinary Big Data strategy and workplan and responding to new developments and requirements in the big data domain. One notable achievement this year is the 60% improvement in UPD data quality. This foundational capability provides a base for future enhancements planned for the UPD Data Quality Framework (DQF) in 2025.

The continuous engagement with our stakeholders to understand and respond to their needs has been another cornerstone of our work in 2024. In January, we hosted a webinar on the UPD DQF and the 4th Veterinary Big Data Stakeholders Forum in October. More recently, we collaborated in the 5th HMA/EMA Big Data Forum. These public events facilitated and sparked great discussions about current and future enhancements in the context of the EU Veterinary Big Data strategy. We discussed, for example, the use of innovative technology such as artificial intelligence to support regulatory use cases for veterinary medicines, both at national and EU levels, specifically the promising ongoing work on the SPC reader.

In conclusion, the measurable business benefits achieved this year, together with the positive feedback on the team’s work, energises and motivates the team to continue the veterinary big data strategy implementation journey. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the EU Veterinary Big Data Hub and other stakeholders to work across the full product lifecycle, from ideation to delivery.

Until next year!
