WIPO Global Innovation Index 2026 Highlights the Growing Role of Deep-Tech Entrepreneurship

The WIPO Global Innovation Index 2026 examines innovation performance across 139 economies, highlighting the growing role of deep-tech entrepreneurship, intellectual property and technology transfer in transforming scientific discoveries into successful businesses. With Europe accounting for 14 of the world's top 25 innovation economies, the report emphasises the importance of strengthening access to finance, IP management and innovation ecosystems to support the commercialisation and scale-up of research-driven technologies.
