WIPO Global Awards 2024: Two Indian Candidates Among 25 Finalists
|
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Global Awards celebrates exceptional enterprises making smart use of intellectual property (IP) for commercialisation products and services while also bringing a positive contribution to society through their innovation and creativity. This year, the competition introduced several changes. Alongside the small and medium enterprises (SME) category, a new startup category was created. Among the 25 finalists in this year's edition of the WIPO Global Awards, two Indian companies have been recognised.

EU & India Electric Vehicle Battery Recycling Technologies Exchange 2024
|
The Delegation of the European Union to India in cooperation with The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (O/o PSA) to the Government of India launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) for start-ups and SMEs operating in the EU in the domain of Electric Vehicle Battery Recycling Technologies. This call for start-ups is matched by a parallel initiative organised by the O/o PSA, scouting and selecting start-ups from India to meet at a joint matchmaking event with companies and investors interested in the battery recycling sector.

This represents a remarkable advancement for the country's innovation and knowledge sector. This uptick in grants not only exceeds the number of filings but also helps in clearing backlogs within the patent system.

World Intellectual Property Report 2024: India Experienced Growth in Scientific and Technological Capabilities
|
World Intellectual Property Report (WIPR) 2024 “Making Innovation Policy Work for Development” published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) delves into the intersection of human innovation, economic diversification, and industrial policy. The report finds that the top economies for scientific, technological and production capabilities are all high-income countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Japan and the Republic of Korea and/or large economies namely China and India.
