Experts wanted for EIC Advisory Board

In June 2019 new European Innovation Council pilot calls will open with the possbility to ask for blended finance in addition to a grant. The European Commission will appoint 15 to 20 innovation leaders to an EIC Advisory Board to oversee the EIC pilot, prepare the future EIC and champion the EIC globally. Innovators from across the ecosystem are invited to come forward by 10 May.

Apply for the Euronext TechShare Programme 2019

Interested in what’s happening within the capital markets in the coming 18-36 months? Apply to the next edition of TechShare Euronext’s educational programme targeted towards CEOs of small businesses keen to learn more about capital markets. Euronext is now in the process of selecting the candidates for the next edition, starting in September 2019. The deadline to apply is the 5 June 2019.

277 innovators selected for funding under EIC’s SME Instrument

A total of 277 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form 25 countries have been selected for funding under the latest round of the SME Instrument, in the so-called Phase 1 of the programme. The companies will receive a total amount of €13.7 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.

13 FTI projects selected to get a total of €33 million

The European Commission is awarding €33.12 million to bring innovative ideas to market quicker. The 13 benefitting projects, involving 54 partners in 17 countries, will receive around €2 million each for the Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) under the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot.

EIC Investor Day: Empowering women innovators

On 4 April, 33 innovative companies led by women and funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot met for an EIC Investor Day in Brussels to promote the access of women entrepreneurs to finance. In addition to panel discussions with investors and plenty of networking, 12 innovative companies got to pitch in front of investors.

EIC pilot and EDP promote matchmaking day for energy innovators

The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and EDP organised a matchmaking day for startups and scaleups working in the energy sector. On 26 March, a total of 29 entrepreneurs had the chance to pitch their solutions and engage in bilateral meetings with corporate representatives in Lisbon.

XpectralTEK's technology fights diseases in vineyards

In the late 19th century the phylloxera epidemic destroyed most of the vineyards in Europe. Since then many techniques have been tried to avoid such a cataclysm, ranging from burying a live toad under the vine to chemical treatments to the plant. XpectralTEK has developed a multispectral imaging technology that can predict plagues and diseases in vineyards. The technology is now being tested with Vinho Verde producers from the Minho region of Portugal.

Innovative bioprinting company CELLINK is on a strong growth curve

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, CELLINK is developing bioprinting technology with a focus on making it easy to use for non-experts. Founded in 2016, Cellink went straight to an IPO on Nasdaq First North that year, raising €360,000 (SEK 3.7M). In 2018 the company received a Phase 2 grant from the EIC pilot SME Instrument of € 2.4 million.
