From 16 to 18 June, the InvestEU Portal Team was co-organising the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) Annual Congress. The virtual event focused on keynotes, thematic workshops and pitching sessions for early stage investors, entrepreneurs, innovation ecosystem stakeholders and policy makers. DG ECFIN Deputy Director-General Elena Flores delivered a keynote speech on the new InvestEU Programme.

As a part of our collaboration with ENRICH, several pitching events took place this year, such as the Funding Summit @ BIO Digital 2021 on 21 June 2021. Selected InvestEU Portal projects were able to pitch their project ideas to US investors. More of these pitching events are planned for 2022.

On 16 September, a presentation was given to the Seal of Excellence Community of Practice. The participation in this meeting results from our longstanding relationship with RTD. More than 300 Seal of Excellence projects are published on the InvestEU Portal. A dedicated tag is flagging them on the Portal to highlight them for investors in search of them. Together with its partner EuroQuity (BPI France), the InvestEU Portal team organised a tailored e-pitching event on women-entrepreneurship on 29 September. Seven InvestEU Portal companies which are led by women have been selected to pitch to EuroQuity’s investors. The projects pitched ranged from medtech, edtech, blockchain/logistics to fintech.

As a result of our on-going collaboration with the European Enterprise Network (EEN) and European Commission’s DG GROW, the InvestEU Portal Team was invited to present the Portal on two occasions this year.

On 27-28 October, the European Angel Investment Summit (EAIS 2021) took place. This two-days conference featured great InvestEU Portal projects pitching to investors and was proud to have Commissioner Gentiloni as a highlevel speaker addressing a keynote speech on the European Commission’s plans to drive investment and entrepreneurship towards Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, Giorgio Chiarion-Casoni, Director at ECFIN L – InvestEU and financial institutions, gave a presentation on the brand-new InvestEU programme, including presenting the InvestEU Portal.

The InvestEU Portal Team attended again in person the WebSummit in Lisbon, Portugal from 2-4 November. The WebSummit is one of the biggest tech-events in the world. More than 42,000 visitors attended this year’s physical event. Since the InvestEU Portal was launched this year, the Portal Team presented the new InvestEU programme, including the InvestEU Portal in a dedicated workshop.

On 17-19 May, the InvestEU Portal will partner up again with European Business Angels Network (EBAN) to organise the EBAN Annual Congress 2022! The event will gather more than 300 start-ups and investors with pitching sessions, keynote speeches, panel discussions as well as breakout sessions and round table discussions. Also in 2022, we will organise with European Business Angels Network (EBAN) the European Angel Investment Summit. The summit will take place in October and will offer pitching and networking opportunities to start-ups and investors. Stay tuned.
