MSCA awards €608.6 million for doctoral programmes

The European Commission has announced the results of the 2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) call for Doctoral Networks. The MSCA will fund a total of 149 excellent doctoral programmes with €608.6 million to train over 1,800 doctoral candidates in and outside academia. In total, 133 standard Doctoral programmes, 8 Industrial Doctoral programmes and 8 Joint Doctoral programmes will be funded.

European Commission to support 49 researchers through MSCA4Ukraine

The European Commission has announced the results of the 2024 call under the MSCA4Ukraine fellowship scheme, part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Under this call, 49 displaced researchers from Ukraine will be supported to continue their research in academia, businesses, research centres and public institutions based in the EU and countries associated to Horizon Europe.

MSCA Fellow of the month communication initiative - apply by 11 May!

Do you know an inspiring MSCA researcher, or are you one yourself?

The Fellow of the Month communication initiative will present testimonials from current and former MSCA fellows. It will offer insight into their scientific achievements, personal experiences, and the broader contribution of their projects to society.

Interested? The call for nominations is still open until 11 May 2025 at 12.00, CEST.

Falling Walls Lab is a world-wide pitch competition offering an opportunity for MSCA fellows and alumni to present their projects and innovative ideas to the scientific community through 3-minute talks. We are looking for 15 excellent communicators and 3 innovative start-ups from all disciplines, with exciting research topics, new ideas and discoveries.

MSCA opens €97.7 million call for Staff Exchanges

The MSCA Staff Exchanges 2025 call is currently open. Under this call, the European Commission will allocate €97.7 million to fund around 85 projects promoting cooperation between organisations in the EU and around the world in the field of research and innovation.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 8 October 2025.

The MSCA Co-funding of regional, national and international programmes (COFUND) 2025 call is currently open. The deadline for submission of proposals is 24 June 2025.

Under this call, the European Commission will award €101.8 million to support institutional, regional, national and international training and career development programmes for researchers.

Opportunity for MSCA Seal of Excellence scheme in Poland - apply by 12 May!

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in Poland has opened a new call for projects that were awarded an MSCA Seal of Excellence under the Postdoctoral Fellowships call and whose proposals have been evaluated with a score of at least 85% but failed to be funded due to budget constraints.

The call is open until 12 May 2025, 15.00 CEST.

The call is open until 9 May 2025, 13.00 CEST or until the exhaustion of the available budget.

Opportunities for MSCA researchers in the European Innovation Council

The InnoNext project provides opportunities for researchers to carry out internships in highly innovative companies supported by the EIC and EIT.

The scheme is open to doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, Doctoral Networks and COFUND projects and will be undertaken as part of a new secondment in the MSCA project.

Where curiosity meets innovation: Science is Wonderful! 2025

In March 2025, the MSCA once again organised its annual science fair Science is Wonderful!. Over the course of two days, it opened its doors to nearly 5 000 primary and secondary school pupils across Belgium and abroad, giving them a unique opportunity to engage with over 170 international scientists, get to know about their work and explore research careers.

We are grateful to all MSCA research teams that took part and allowed the next generation of researchers to step into their shoes!
