CORDIS Newsletter: Your window into advancements that shape the future
In November, CORDIS celebrated 30 years of its online presence as the European Commission’s longest-running website, a milestone that prompts reflection on its journey from a pioneering research database to the comprehensive scientific knowledge hub it is today. Over these three decades, CORDIS has connected EU-funded research with the wider scientific community, following projects from their inception to completion – and beyond. Since 2004, CORDIS has been proudly managed by the Publications Office of the European Union.
CORDIS still continues to evolve, offering advanced services to support the dissemination of knowledge. This edition of the CORDIS Newsletter spotlights one such feature: the newly implemented Data Extraction Tool, which enables users to extract project data directly from the CORDIS website or integrate it into external applications.
We also invite you to explore the CORDIScovery podcast, where experts dive into the latest research trends, and a Results Pack on raw materials.
To give you a word on the future developments of CORDIS, we have now launched the CORDIS user satisfaction survey on our website. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us refine our services and better meet your needs. Don’t miss this opportunity to let us know what you expect from CORDIS.
As the year draws to a close, we wish you a peaceful and restorative break. Enjoy the read!

Use the Data Extraction tool to make CORDIS data work for you
CORDIS has recently launched a new, powerful Data Extraction tool that allows you to create customised datasets from EU-funded research. Previously, users only had three options; they could settle for downloading basic search results, use the rather technical API (application programming interface) or access fixed datasets through data.europa.eu. This tool overcomes those limitations, enabling you to extract comprehensive data and metadata tailored to your needs.
It’s easy to use: after searching and filtering projects of interest, select “Download search results” at the top of the page, choose your preferred format and click “Extract.” A link to download your tailored dataset will be sent to your mailbox, and it will also be saved in the Data Extractions section of your CORDIS profile.
A CORDIS account is required to access the tool, ensuring system stability. Advanced users can also access data via the API, offering flexible integration options. All this and more is available in the Datalab section, your gateway to the full potential of CORDIS data.

EU-funded projects strengthen raw material security
Europe’s shift to a low-carbon, digital economy depends on a stable supply of critical raw materials (CRMs) essential for products like EV batteries and medical devices. However, heavy reliance on imports poses risks to this supply. In response, the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act aims to build a secure, sustainable CRM value chain.
A recent CORDIS Results Pack highlights 10 Horizon-funded projects advancing CRM recycling and processing. These projects focus on cleaner, more efficient methods to recover valuable materials from by-products, enhancing recycling and reducing waste in resources like lithium and rare earth elements.
Discover how EU research is reshaping Europe’s CRM landscape to reduce dependency and drive sustainability.

Unlocking your full potential: from results to impact!
The European Commission recently launched an updated Horizon Results Booster – now known as the Booster – to help EU-funded projects in research and innovation bring their results to concrete use and to maximise their impact. Running until 2028, the Booster provides targeted coaching, assisting participants in developing strategies, business plans, risk assessments, and more – all for free.
The Booster services are available for EU-funded R&I project results at all levels of technology readiness, in any scientific or technological field. Depending on the types of results, the coaching provided can help launch an innovation on the market, disseminate relevant findings to policy makers, or identify opportunities for further applied research.
Working with the Booster also provides an opportunity to enhance the visibility of research findings, ensuring that impactful results are easier to discover for all potential users.
