Protecting People and Prosperity: Adoption of a Climate Risk Management Communication
The European Commission has adopted a pivotal Communication titled "Managing climate risks: Protecting people and prosperity" that outlines strategies to proactively address the escalating climate-related risks in the EU.
It responds to the broad body of evidence, including the inaugural European Climate Risk Assessment, and emphasises that climate-related damages are influenced by known risks and policy responses. By prioritising solutions across societal systems, the proposals aim to enhance governance, provide essential tools, leverage structural policies, and establish conducive conditions for financing climate resilience.

PROVIDE released its Climate Risks Dashboard
Mission project, PROVIDE, has published its publicly available tool that allows users to investigate future climate change impacts and (un)avoidable risks from local cities to a global scale.
The PROVIDE project aims to provide more clarity on how climate impacts might develop after peak temperatures, in so-called ‘overshoot scenarios’, and if they can be reversed.
Explore different climate futures and how they will affect the environment and people as well as how to avoid reaching undesirable climate impacts, specifically in urban areas.

RESIST partner, GAIA Vesterålen, uses visual art to communicate climate change
As part of the Sunken House Project, GAIA Vesterålen, intended to show how future climate change will affect locals in the Norwegian region. The art project illustrated the rising sea level as a result of climate change on a historic building to create awareness and debate, and to inspire individuals to take action in their daily lives.
As part of the RESIST project, Vesterålen has been partnered with another EU region facing similar climate risks and is more advanced in delivering adaptation solutions. RESIST will support the region in further developing the GaiaVesterålen platform with augmented reality and virtual reality technology to demonstrate the effects of climate change and contribute to the local community becoming more environmentally friendly.
