Last month, in a nutshell

|
Welcome to the September issue of our newsletter! Here are the latest EU climate news highlights.
Scientists say this past summer was the warmest on record by a large margin, highlighting the urgent need for climate action. The EU is in the frontline against climate change, and citizens are standing on its side: according to the latest Eurobarometer survey, most Europeans support the EU’s green transition efforts.
In her 2023 State of the Union speech, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasised the European Green Deal as the answer to the challenges that climate change is posing to our continent. At the UN Climate Ambition Summit in New York, the President called for global climate action, urging world leaders to collaborate on emission reductions, clean energy and climate finance. Meanwhile, the EU has announced substantial investments to support the green transition of Kenya and several Member States.
Before you go, a quick reminder: if you haven't already, sign up for the European Climate Stocktake event before registrations close on October 15. Our call for new European Climate Pact Ambassadors will end on the same day, so don't forget to spread the word and submit your application on time!
