Australia inaugures Critical Infrastructure Security Month (CISM) in November 2023: an official month of focus and action. It is dedicated to uplifting the security and resilience of critical infrastructure across Australia. It is also for reflecting on partnerships that underpin our security and prosperity.

The initiative highlights the importance of securing assets and networks. It allows owners, operators, government and industry to collaborate to meet these goals. It will be a regular event every year to reflect on steps taken to bring critical infrastructure security to the forefront of all Australians minds.

In this context, also the first edition of Australia's Critical Infrastructure Annual Risk Review has been released. It provides a summary of the key risk-driven issues that have been affecting the security of Australia’s critical infrastructure over the last 12 months.

The review presents risk issues under each of the threat and hazard categories outlined in the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 and accompanying rules for the Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program.
