Since 2011 ERNCIP has established a series of working networks of volunteer experts from the EU and beyond it. The expert groups are assembled in the form of Thematic Groups (TGs), to improve the availability of security solutions through common European testing standards, harmonisation of test methodologies and protocols, and common user guidelines on CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives) and cyber-related domains mainly.
Periodic TG meetings and workshops represent an essential part of the ERNCIP strategy for valuable discussion and broader dissemination of the main outcomes achieved as well as to raise open issues with the stakeholders.
At the moment, ERNCIP has the following active thematic groups:
- Chemical & Biological Risks to Drinking Water Thematic Group
- Detection of Indoor Airborne Chemical-Biological Agents Thematic Group
- Resistance of Structures to Explosion Effects (ROSEE)
- Radiological and Nuclear Threats to Critical Infrastructure
- Early Warning Zones
- IACS Cybersecurity Certification Framework
Several technical recommendations and scientific papers have been developed by the ERNCIP community, focusing on cross-sectoral interdependencies and security-related aspects as well as on the role of expert networking and trust building for enhancing critical infrastructure protection and resilience.
