The NATO 2030 initiative sets out an ambitious agenda, including priorities and the need to broaden its approach to security. As part of NATO 2030, the Alliance needs to adapt and prepare for unpredictable threats, including in cyber space, and focus more on resilience and innovation.

New technologies, including sensor systems, will be key in training military to adapt to new warfare grounds such as urban environments. While highlighting it is important to strengthen defence against cyber-attacks, it is also important to boost resilience among societies. Looking ahead the Deputy Secretary General stressed the importance for the Alliance to maintain its technological edge and underlined the importance of transnational cooperation and collective defence.

NATO 2030 is also about reaffirming NATO’s values and safeguarding the rules-based international order. The Deputy Secretary General stressed the importance of a strong transatlantic bond to meet the challenges of tomorrow together, demonstrating solidarity in words and in deeds, which will form the core of the NATO summit agenda later this year.

To support the Secretary General’s work, NATO 2030 is bringing together Allied parliamentarians, civil society, public and private sector experts, and youth to provide fresh thinking on how to make NATO an even stronger Alliance.
