Since July 2020, the EU has taken great strides towards completing the actions in the key areas covered by the four pillars of the Strategy.

This report shows that the overwhelming majority of the actions itemised in the Strategy have been addressed. However, work remains to be done to achieve the full impact of the Security Union Strategy for citizens – in particular, the adoption of outstanding legislative proposals by the European Parliament and the Council and the implementation by Member States of agreed legislation.

The goals of the Security Union can also be best secured through close collaboration with linked EU initiatives in areas like energy security, the European Health Union, and the European Democracy Action Plan.
