InfraStress project addresses Cyber-Physical Protection of CIs

InfraStress project brings together international partners from industry and academia addressing the security and resilience of Industrial Critical Infrastructure as well as the creation of a culture of security and critical infrastructure protection.

InfraStress is a research project co-funded by the EU through the H2020 Framework Programme which brings together 27 international partners from industry and academia addressing the security and resilience of Industrial Critical Infrastructure.

InfraStress, since its conception, has been strongly ‘user- driven’, meaning that the development of all InfraStress services and solutions springs from the requirement and needs of Sensitive Industrial Plants and Sites (SIPS), well represented by project partners who are actual owners and managers of these sites and were able throughout the whole project to provide their vision on how to improve security, how to enhance the convergence of physical and cyber security and how to provide tools which are at the same time innovative, effective and ergonomic. Over the course of the project, 50 solutions have been developed and tested in the fields of: physical and cyber threats detection and protection systems, human sensors, monitoring services, Information sharing, threat intelligence and prediction, decision support services, post-event analysis services, and stress test services. Key achievements of the project also include:

  • Two-way communication involving plant owners, surrounding communities and the general public throughout the project’s life.
  • Project to policy feedback about crucial evidence, and experience, actively supporting the new proposed EU CER Directive
  • Sharing tools, including the European Risk and Resilience Assessment initiative, a Collective Intelligence Platform (CoIP), and over 17 scientific publications.
  • International standards contributions, including to the new ISO 31050 standard on cyber-physical risks and to French and German standardization bodies specifications.

The above results make the InfraStress project outstanding in the sense of contributions to the EU policies and P4P initiative, which in turn, will make the results of the project more sustainable and usable for the time beyond-the-project.
