Following our previous communication (8 February), we want to update you on the potential disruption of the Webtools Social Media Kit service, which enables you to embed Twitter feeds on your websites, including intranet sites. Since our last message, Twitter has implemented a new paid access tier to its API service. According to the latest information we have, this might take effect on Monday 1 May.

If Twitter enforces the new paid “API access”, the tweets embedded on your websites will no longer appear. Unfortunately, it is challenging to obtain precise information, but it is evident that Twitter will ultimately discontinue free access to its API. So, even if free access to the API is extended at the last moment, we strongly encourage you to stop using the feature on your websites.
