Europa Analytics configuration

In order to comply with the data protection regulation, Europa Analytics has implemented some changes in the way that visitors are tracked across European Commission websites.

How it was before?

  • The “Do Not Track” browser setting for all browsers was implemented, with the exception of Internet Explorer 9/10/11.
  • The visitors can opt out/in from being tracked in the Privacy Policy page.

What is changing?

  • The “Do Not Track” browser setting is set for all browsers - Internet Explorer is no longer an exception.
  • If a visitor refuses to accept cookies in the Cookie Consent Kit, the visitor will also opt out of being tracked.
  • The visitors can opt out/in from being tracked in the Privacy Policy page.

When did these changes take place?

The changes went live in production on 15 July 2019.

What does this mean in terms of my traffic measurement?

A drop in traffic measurement of 15%-20% is to be expected, starting from 15 July.

Does this mean that my website will have less visits?

No. Only the traffic measurement will decrease due to the changes.
