New tool for the Next Europa Analytics Service

Next Europa Analytics Tool

date:  15/10/2015

Dear Europa Analytics users,

DG COMM - with DG DIGIT support - would like to inform you about the decision to implement the Piwik software solution in 2016 as the Next Europa corporate web analytics tool, for which one of the key elements was the promising results of DG CNECT-led Piwik Pilot during 2015.

The NE-analytics will be available in production by April 2016 and the current SAS solution will be phased out in December 2016.
However, a collection of reports from the SAS Kiosk will be made available for historical purposes in PDF format.

No data will be migrated from the SAS solution because the collecting mechanism, internal algorithm and setup choices of the NE-analytics are very different from the actual solutions. Data from the initial DG CNECT-led Piwik Pilot will not be migrated either.
Starting from July 2016, requests for websites configuration setup or change will not be accepted for the current SAS Europa Analytics. These requests will implemented on the NE-analytics PIWIK instance.

According to the new technology, i.e. tag-based, clearer rules will be implemented with strict respect to data privacy. Today this implies that explicit consent from EUROPA visitors will be required to collect and process their access information for analytics purposes.
For more details visit the following IPG page on the roadmap and the features for PIWIK implementation:http://ec.europa.eu/ipg/services/statistics/next-europa-analytics_en.htm.

Shall you have any questions or remarks, please contact COMM EUROPA MANAGEMENT.

Best regards,
DG COMM A5/ IT Sector/ EA Team
