A new call for proposals of the Digital Europe Programme concerning Advanced digital skills is open since the 29 September 2022 until the 24 January 2023 [...]

The primary objective of this call is to support the design and delivery of higher education programmes concerning key technologies, including blockchain. Participants are also invited to upgrade digital solutions, equipment and infrastructure, with a special focus on interoperability of IT systems across participating High Education Institutions. Moreover, proposals are highly encouraged to explain how the project explores the innovative use of digital tools and solutions to support the functioning of the education programme(s), such as the cross-border verification of educational credentials piloted by the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (or other solution).

On September 14, Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the Internal Market, referenced blockchain as a technology that enables identification and ownership in new virtual spaces, amongst with unique identifiers and NFTs. In this post entitled 'People, technologies & infrastructure – Europe’s plan to thrive in the metaverse', digital transformation in Europe was highlighted as being part of the European ambition, in line with President Von der Leyen’s State of the Union letter of intent

On 20 October, The EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum (EUBOF) will organise a hybrid event called ”EU Blockchain developments: shaping the future”, in Nicosia, which is set to cover the EU Blockchain ecosystem landscape, regulation, Metaverse, Converging technologies for the 4th Industrial Revolution, European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) and Sustainability powered by blockchain.
