EBSI at Digital Day 2021

On 19 March 2021, three declarations signed on the occasion of Digital Day 2021 have been notarised using EBSI. These declarations address key areas where digital technologies can have a significant and positive impact and contribute to Europe’s Digital Decade. The three declarations signed in the context of EBSI are: (i) the European Gateways Declaration; (ii) the EU Startup Nations Standard Declaration; and, (iii) the Declaration on a Green and Digital Transformation of the EU. Digital Day 2018 led to the adoption of the Declaration on the European Blockchain Partnership, which formalised EBSI. 

Energy Efficiency of Blockchain Technology workshop

On 21 April, the European Blockchain Observatory and Forum is hosting a workshop on the Energy Efficiency of Blockchain Technology. This workshop will present the findings of the forthcoming report on the same topic of energy efficiency of blockchain technology. The workshop aims to separate the myths from reality on energy consumption of blockchain, decarbonizing the blockchain and how blockchain solutions can scale sustainably. INATBA Working Groups engage in regulatory dialogues 

In March, INATBA's Academic Advisory Body published their report: Blockchain Ecosystem's Response to MiCA Regulation Proposal. This report, picked up by industry media, was created via engagement sessions and surveys via the public INATBA MiCA Task Force that included insights from 50+ industry members. The Identity Working Group submitted a document, "Suggestions on Decentralised Ledger Technology (DLT) based Trust Services under eIDAS", INATBA's Education Working Group also responded to the Consultation on a European Digital Decade, emphasising the need for widespread blockchain education following the publication of their related position paper and event.
