Proof of Work (PoW)

A consensus algorithm that secures a blockchain by proving that a certain amount of computational effort has been expended. Verifying this expenditure can, however, be done with minimal effort.

Immutable

Something immutable (like a block in the blockchain) is characterised by its inability to change - it remains the same over time, making falsification more difficult to do and more easily traceable.
