In this edition, you will find useful information about the adoption of the EBSI software license and the recently published proposal for a Regulation on harmonised rules on fair access to and use of data (Data Act). Both aim to encourage innovation and ensure secure data sharing practices. Since our last Newsflash edition, the European Commission has published a call for proposals to further support EBSI's activities.

Policy update

European Commission adopts decision to license EBSI software as open source

The decision to make EBSI software available for licencing under the European Union Public Licence is an example of how the European Commission is not only using, but also contributing to the open source community and thereby growing the ecosystem around EBSI. This allows anyone to have full visibility on the code, discussing it freely and grow a community able to help identify any potential shortcomings. [...]

Technical update

On 1 March 2022, EBSI will release the v2.0.0-rc.12 to the pre-production environment. This release features improvements to the Wallet Conformance Testing service (WCT), e.g. more detailed and accurate response messages to wallet providers testing their solutions. [...]

During two days, Paris Blockchain Week Summit will host sessions about traceability, leveraging blockchain throughout the innovation journey, digital governance, what's been built in 2021/2022, the state of digital asset liquidity, international regulatory cooperation and much more.
