Welcome to the latest edition of the CEF Building Block Bulletin.

The CEF Monitoring team have been hard at work, with a fully updated Monitoring Guidebook and a brand new dashboard giving a financial overview of the whole CEF Digital programme, as well as revamped, user-friendly dashboards covering individual projects.

This week, we look at the pivotal role the CEF Context Broker is playing as Europe looks to smart, data-based solutions to drive renewable energy projects. In addition, the Big Data Test Infrastructure (BDTI), Context Broker and eTranslation Building Blocks featured at the SEMIC 2020 conference and the European Week of Regions and Cities.

How Context Broker is helping Europe in its quest for smarter energy solutions

Context Broker's ability to gather data from various sources and package it in a useable format helps multiple European projects react to fluctuations in renewable energy production in real-time so they can balance supply and demand.

The CEF Monitoring team has released a new monitoring guidebook detailing how it tracks the success of digital services, as well as a brand new dashboard giving a financial overview of the entire CEF Digital programme.

The CEF Monitoring team has also revamped all its dashboards to make them more accessible, and created new dashboards giving detailed insight into individual projects, from sector-specific digital services to the WiFi4EU initiative.

The CEF Building Blocks at European Week of Regions and Cities 2020

At the European Week of Regions and Cities, several sessions explored how the CEF building blocks are driving sustainable growth and cohesion throughout Europe, from 'Smart City' water irrigation to machine translation making the EU Council Presidency's communications accessible to the general public.

CEF Context Broker and Big Data tool shine at SEMIC 2020

The first ever fully virtual annual Semantic Interoperability Conference (SEMIC) welcomed 327 participants, with the CEF Digital Team presenting the Context Broker and BDTI Building Blocks in virtual networking booths, and showcasing BDTI's role in fighting COVID-19.

eInvoicing transmission explained by eInvoicing stakeholders and the European Commission

As more governments and businesses look to cut out paper and digitalise their invoicing processes, the Commission came together with public and private sector stakeholders to gather insights on how to overcome the challenges of eInvoicing transmission through interoperable solutions.

Grant funding deadline for EU Student eCard extended till 1 January 2021

The EU Student eCard will allow EU students to electronically identity themselves as students anywhere in Europe using their national eID. An estimated €2 million in grant funding is available for projects in this area: the deadline for applications is now 1 January 2021.
