Highlights

  • U avg. farm gate milk prices up +3.5% in Nov. 2021 (40.0 c/kg), and +13.3% compared to Nov. 2020; estimated price for December: 40.7 c/kg (+1.7%);
  • EU butter prices: 553 €/100 kg, +1.3% up in last 4 weeks;
  • EU SMP prices: 329 €/100 kg, +1.7% up in last 4 weeks;
  • EU WMP prices: 413 €/100 kg, +2.4% up in last 4 weeks;
  • EU cheddar prices: 339 €/100 kg, +1.8% up in last 4 weeks;
  • IT spot milk price slighly down, now at 46.5 c/kg. (2/01/2022);
  • USA is still more price competitive on butter (difference: ~1450 USD/t vs. EU) while Oceania is more competitive on WMP and the EU on SMP and cheddar;
  • Increase of feed costs (+1.5%) and decrease of energy costs (+-1.3%) in week 52 compared to the previous 4 weeks;
  • In November 2021, NZ, AUS, US and UK milk production was down respectively by -1.5%, -0.8%, -0.4% and -2.1%.;
  • GDT last auction (4/01/2022): general price index +0.3%. Price increased for: SMP (+1.0%), butter (+0.3%), cheddar (+4.9%) and buttermilk powder (+1.0%).
