Monthly highlights n.2 analyses first-sales evolution at commodity group level and first sales of EU Member States. Between January and September 2024, Italy imported 34,864 tonnes of squid, a 22% increase compared to 2023, while the average price decreased by 14%. The main suppliers were India (23%), Thailand, and Argentina. In November 2023, household consumption of cephalopods in Italy reached 17,788 tonnes valued at €234.83 million, with octopus and squid as the main species, while in Portugal, consumption totalled 4,511 tonnes worth €37.83 million, primarily octopus.
