European Cybersecurity Competence Centre and Network

On 8-9 April, the ECCC Governing Board held its 12th meeting, following the networking day of the National Coordination Centres (NCCs) in Warsaw, under the auspices of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During these days, the ECCC Governing Board held a joint session with the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).

The Commission seeks input to evaluate and revise the 2019 Cybersecurity Act. This initiative reflects the Commission’s ongoing commitment to simplifying rules. Interested parties are invited to give their views on the Have Your Say portal and the EU Survey until 20 June.

The Commission has launched a consultation on the Action Plan for the cybersecurity of hospitals and healthcare providers. The results will further contribute to the recommendations that the Commission plans to present by the end of the year. The deadline for contributions is 30 June 2025.

On 18–19 March 2025, Prague hosted the sixth edition of the Prague Cyber Security Conference (PCSC), organized by the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The Commission will allocate €1.3 billion for the deployment of critical technologies that are strategically important for the future of Europe and the continent's tech sovereignty through the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) work programme for 2025 to 2027 adopted on 28 March 2025.

Priorities for investment range from new technologies for cybersecurity, including on AI and post-quantum transition, to actions for improving EU cyber resilience and supporting SMEs.

The Commission has opened four new calls worth €140 million under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) to advance the roll out of Artificial Intelligence (AI), promote advanced digital skills, expand the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) and fight disinformation.

Complementing the Cybersecurity Skills Academy, the new academies in Quantum Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Worlds will foster a more coordinated approach to digital skills education and training in the EU.

The Union of Skills Communication is accompanied by an Action Plan on Basic Skills and a STEM Education Strategic Plan to improve skills in science, technology, engineering, and maths, promote STEM careers, attract more girls and women, and boost preparedness in the face of digital and clean-tech transitions.

The ECCC will join the Open day at the Commission's Berlaymont building in Brussels to celebrate Europe Day. Through a series of events, activities and themed spaces, Europe Day offers citizens a chance to visit the European institutions, discover how they operate on a daily basis, and explore the policies that shape our lives.

The conference’s topic is Strengthening Cyber Resilience in SMEs”. Key Note speeches, presentations and panel discussions will provide dedicated to topics such as SMEs interests and knowledge and skills in cyber range.
