The European Migration Network (EMN) conducted a study to identify key challenges and opportunities for the integration of third-country national (TCN) women in European countries, and to better understand the extent to which the particular situation of migrant women is taken into consideration in integration policies and measures.
The main areas of focus within the study are those covered by the EU Action plan on integration and inclusion 2021-2027, including:
- education and training;
- employment and skills;
- health and housing.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on TCN migrant women in Europe is also examined.
The study considered data from 2016 to 2021, including Eurostat data, national statistics from 24 European countries, and key documents related to integration (such as existing legislation and policy documents, reports, academic literature, internet resources, media reports and information from national authorities). Input was also requested from experts from governmental and non-governmental organisations.
The research culminated in the production of one overall report plus individual national reports for fourteen EU countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. All reports are attached below.
