Europe in figures - Eurostat yearbook presents a comprehensive selection of statistical data on Europe. The yearbook may be viewed as an introduction to European statistics and provides guidance to the vast range of data freely available from the Eurostat website at:
Temporal, spatial and thematic coverage
Most data cover the period 2000-2010 for the European Union (EU) while some indicators are provided for other countries, such as the EFTA member states, acceding and candidate countries to the EU, Japan and the United States (subject to availability). With more than 470 statistical tables, figures and maps, the yearbook covers the following areas: economy and finance; population; health; education and training; labour market; living conditions and social protection; industry, trade and services; agriculture, forestry and fisheries; international trade; transport; environment; energy; and science and technology.

Formats and language versions
The Eurostat yearbook is released as a PDF file and on paper in English: publication of the 2012 edition PDF is foreseen for July 2012 and on paper in September 2012. The most up-to-date version in English is available on Statistics Explained (part of Eurostat’s website) as an online publication, the virtual Eurostat yearbook. It is translated once a year into German and French. During the course of a year, the virtual English yearbook is gradually updated and therefore the virtual German and French yearbooks are sometimes not as up-to-date as the English one. The translations of the 2012 edition are expected to become gradually available on Statistics Explained until the end of September 2012. The three language versions of the virtual Eurostat yearbook are accessible through these short URLs: http://bit.ly/Eurostat_yearbook, http://bit.ly/Eurostat-Jahrbuch, and http://bit.ly/Annuaire_Eurostat.
