The EU employment rate (for people aged 20-64) went up from 71.7 % in 2020 to 73.1 % in 2021, an increase of 1.4 percentage points (pp).
At EU level, the share of employed people who usually or sometimes work from home greatly increased from 14.6 % to 24.4 % between 2019 and 2021.
In 2021, the employment rate of 16 out of 27 EU Member States reached or exceeded their pre-pandemic level.
Poland and Romania recorded the largest increases in the employment rate between 2019 and 2021 (more than 2 pp).
