A mobile phone subscription refers to the use of public mobile telecommunication systems (also called mobiles or cellphones) using cellular technology.

In the context of the TELECOM survey on telecommunications services:

  • active pre-paid cards (where you pay for your calls as you make them) are treated as subscriptions (where you make an advance payment);
  • people may have more than one subscription.
