A clear majority (62.5%) of the value of all the EU’s imports from Russia in 2021 were from energy products, which includes petroleum oils, natural gas, coal and electricity.
Russia was a key partner for the EU’s imports of nickel (42% of all extra-EU imports), fertilisers (29%), energy (26%) and wood (23%) in 2021.
