Europe in figures - Eurostat yearbook presents a comprehensive selection of statistical data on Europe. This yearbook may be viewed as an introduction to European statistics; it provides essential reading for those wishing to discover the vast range of data that is freely available on Eurostat’s website at: http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat.
Formats and language versions
As of 2013 the Eurostat yearbook is no longer available as a printed or PDF publication. In order to present the latest data the yearbook is made available on Statistics Explained (part of Eurostat’s website), as the virtual Eurostat yearbook. It is translated once a year into German and French. During the course of the year the virtual English yearbook is gradually updated, therefore the virtual German and French yearbooks are sometimes not as up-to-date as the English one. Translations for the 2013 edition will be made available on Statistics Explained; the full set of articles should be available by the end of October 2013. Temporal, spatial and thematic coverage
Most data in the Eurostat yearbook cover the period 2001 to 2011. Statistics are presented for the European Union (EU), the euro area (EA) and individual EU Member States, while some indicators are also provided for non-member countries, such as the EFTA member states and candidate countries to the EU, Japan and the United States (subject to availability).
With more than 470 statistical tables, figures and maps, the Eurostat yearbook covers the following areas: economy and finance; population; health; education and training; the labour market; living conditions and social protection; industry, trade and services; agriculture, forestry and fisheries; international trade; transport; the environment; energy; and science and technology.
