The variables collected in monthly electronic questionnaire in construction:

  • construction production carried out by own employees
  • sub-contracting
  • contractually agreed construction production (production sold).

There are estimates on data for small enterprises from the monthly sample survey and on the self-employed persons based on data from the business register and from data obtained from the social insurance company.

Construction production includes construction in progress, reconstruction, extension and restoration of buildings, repairs and maintenance of buildings, including construction assembly and the value of built-in materials (excluding VAT).

Construction production carried out by own employees is the basic indicator of the evolution of the production volume. Construction production carried out by own employees comprises the value of construction production realised by workers included in the registered number of employees of construction enterprise as well as persons working with the enterprise upon contract at construction works (including productive work of apprentices). Besides construction production carried out for the direct contractors (purchasers), the value of construction production consists of works carried out for own new construction as well as for the other suppliers of construction production including construction production carried out abroad.

The construction production is broken down by the kind of works carried out:

  • new construction, reconstruction and modernisation
  • repairs and maintenance
  • other works.

New construction, reconstruction and modernisation, repairs and maintenance are broken down by the Classification of Types of Constructions:

  • residential buildings
  • non-residential buildings
  • engineering works.

The Statistical Business Register is the frame for identifying units for the population. Statistical Business Register is updated in daily frequency from: Single Public Register, quarterly with information from the social insurance company register and from statistical surveys, yearly with information from the tax register.

The kind of activity unit as the observation unit.

All enterprises with 20 and more employees registered in the business register and enterprises in the business register with less than 20 employees that have an annual turnover in excess of 5 Mill. EUR.

Sample of small enterprises with less than 20 employees: The rate used for sampling is 18 % for each combination of the three criteria: activity, number of employees, region.

Activity Groups : 41.1, 41.2, 42.1, 42.2., 42.9, 43.1, 43.2, 43.3, 43.9. 

Number of employees : 0-9, 10-19.

Region (NUTS 3) : 1, 2, … , 8.

Approximately 4 067 units are covered, 746 large ones and 3 321 small ones.

Business register is the frame for identifying units for the population.

Business register is updated in daily frequency from: the business register, the trades register, the professional chambers, and from other ministries. Yearly frequency of updating from the tax register, the social Security Insurance company register and from statistical surveys.

All regions of the Slovak Republic are covered by the survey. The reporting units are residents at the territory of the Slovak Republic and provide data on their domestic activities and activities outside, if the activities carried out are of a subject of the tax and other duties in relation to Slovak legislation.  

Month.

Overall accuracy is considered very good. SOSR makes great efforts to prevent the occurrence of errors in the data and performs data verification to detect the errors. Most errors are directly consulted at regional offices with the reporting units.

Indices are transmitted to Eurostat. Data in absolute figures are published nationally as well.

Non-response for active reporting units is corrected by data imputation. The results for the population of active enterprises are grossed up using the Horwitz-Thomson estimator in accordance with survey stratification. Initial weights are modified due to non-response rates and unit inactivity. Administrative data and a model approach are used for estimates for self-employed persons.

Exhaustive survey of reporting units with 20 and more employees and of small enterprises with annual turnover in excess of 5 Mill. EUR.

Estimates of sole proprietors.

Stratification criteria: Activity, size classes and region (NUTS 3).

The rate used for sampling is 18 % for each combination of the three criteria: activity, number of employees, region).

Every year one third of the sample is changed.

There are estimates on data for small enterprises from the monthly sample survey  and on the self-employed persons based on data from the business register and from  data obtained from the social insurance company.

Data on IPC are transmitted to Eurostat monthly.

Data on IPC are disseminated monthly as well as to national users.

Data are released in line with the Release calendar. There are no differences in timeliness between the different aggregation levels or between the statistical variables presented.

Data dissemination in the public database Datacube is in accordance with the set up deadlines.

Data are disseminated on 42. day after the reference period.

The same statistical concepts are applied for the entire area of Slovak Republic.

Comparable time series for IPC are available since January 2000.
