Reference metadata describe statistical concepts and methodologies used for the collection and generation of data. They provide information on data quality and, since they are strongly content-oriented, assist users in interpreting the data. Reference metadata, unlike structural metadata, can be decoupled from the data.
The quarterly data are broken down by economic activity (at section level) in accordance with NACE Rev. 2 - Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community.
2.3. Coverage - sector
All economic activities defined by NACE Rev. 2, except the activities of households as employers and the activities of extraterritorial organisations and bodies.
2.4. Statistical concepts and definitions
A 'job vacancy' is defined as a paid post that is newly created, unoccupied, or about to become vacant:
for which the employer is taking active steps and is prepared to take further steps to find a suitable candidate from outside the enterprise concerned; and
which the employer intends to fill either immediately or within a specific period of time.
‘Active steps to find a suitable candidate’ include:
notifying the job vacancy to the public employment services,
contacting a private employment agency/head hunters,
advertising the vacancy in the media (for example internet, newspapers, magazines),
advertising the vacancy on a public notice board,
approaching, interviewing or selecting possible candidates/potential recruits directly,
approaching employees and/or personal contacts,
using internships.
'Specific period of time’ refers to the maximum time the vacancy is open and intended to be filled. That period shall be unlimited; all vacancies for which active steps are continuing on the reference date shall be reported.
An 'occupied post’ means a paid post within the organisation to which an employee has been assigned.

3.1. Source data
The source of the data is a survey over 25 thousand enterprises (business units)
3.2. Frequency of data collection
The end of the quarter
3.3. Data collection
Data are collected online.
3.4. Data validation

5.1. Relevance - User Needs
Main users are ministries and other government institutions.
5.2. Relevance - User Satisfaction

5.3. Completeness
The source of the data is a survey over 25 thousand enterprises (business units). The more employees the larger the fraction of the enterprises that are taken in the sample. Enterprises with 200 employees or more all in the sample. The eductaion industry are all in the sample. All vacancies are included.
5.3.1. Data completeness - rate
Not applicable
6.1. Accuracy - overall
Not applicable
6.2. Sampling error
See 6.2.1
6.2.1. Sampling error - indicators
Coefficient of variation (taking into account the sampling design) or estimated sampling error for the number of job vacancies (see guidelines).
See annex "coefficients of variation" at the bottom of the report for additional information
In 2010, there was a change from NACE Rev1 to Rev2. All previous results have been recalculated.

7.2.1. Punctuality - delivery and publication
Deadlines for the respondents to reply, also covering recalls and follow-ups

Overall answer:
Enterprises/companies have to respond about the situation at the end of the quarter. Two weeks before the end of the quarter, statistics Netherlands sends the survey-forms. One week after the end of the quarter CBS sends a follow-up to urge the respondents.
Two weeks after the end of the quarter the first reminder is sent.
Three weeks after the end of the quarter the second reminder is sent.
24 days after the end of the quarter CBS starts to remind by telephone, this will take 10 days.
Start: 2 weeks before the end of the quarter
End: 5 weeks after the end of the quarter
1 day
45 days after the end of the quarter
8.1. Comparability - geographical
No difference
8.1.1. Asymmetry for mirror flow statistics - coefficient
Not applicable
8.2. Comparability - over time
No changes
8.2.1. Length of comparable time series
Not applicable
8.3. Coherence - cross domain
In the Netherlands, there are relatively a lot of vacancies, some companies have decided to take measures to solve the problem of the shortage of labour. For example by opening the restaurants a few hours less or only open it a few days in the week. In some industries the vacancies have naturally decreased. But the uneplyment rate has also slightly decreased
The occupied posts are from a registration (policy based administration) and also combined with self-employed jobs. The LFS is a sample. We prefer to compare the JVS with the occupied posts which are from a registration (policy based administration) and also combined with self-employed jobs.
The mining and quarring industry (B) is a industry with relatively little employment, the absolute difference between LFS and JVS is small.
The vacancies in the renting and other business support (N) industry have increased in the last years, because the amount of jobs via employment agencies have increased.
The occupied posts are from a registration (policy based administration), occupation from National Accounts are also a from a registration (policy based administration) so they are comparable.
8.6. Coherence - internal

9.1. Dissemination format - News release
Every quarter there is a press release economic situation and labour market and there is quarterly report on the labour market:
