Statistics on eggs for hatching and farmyard poultry chicks are collected under (market) Regulation (EC) No 617/2008. They are the earliest available information to foresee production of poultry meat and eggs, as the numbers of chicks of various utilities placed in the farms of each Member State, i.e. the number of chicks placed by the hatcheries of this Member State increased by the net import of chicks.
In Iceland, the representatives of the four hatcheries that are active on the market will log into web-form on the homepage of Statistics Iceland and fill in online form in every month.
