Project title:
MeDIETerranea: the Mediterranean Diet and the enhancement of tra-ditional produce
Summary of project idea:
The project aims to improve the promotion and commercialisation of traditional produce, via means of a strong collaboration between producers and tourism operators on one side and be-tween the participating territories on the other. The project furthermore, aims to diffuse forms of sustainable tourism that allows tourists to see, taste and purchase traditional pro-duce whilst learning about the traditional production techniques.

Project objectives, target group and activities:
The cooperation project proposes: - the planning and realisation of a Mediterranean menu, composed of dishes cooked with agri-food products from the diverse partner regions, to be proposed to local con-sumers and tourists. The menu will be defined concretely in a “Catalogue of Tradi-tional Produce” which lists products, methods and primary materials used by local cul-tivators and artisans in each territory - the planning of a “Trade fair for Traditional Mediterranean Production” aimed at pro-moting traditional production techniques in the Mediterranean and a responsible tourism program via means of a roving event itinerary (with a stop in each participat-ing area) with the contribution of the organising partners and representatives of pro-ducers and the tourism operators of each region - the organisation of a “Conference of Local Mediterranean Production” to promote the added value of traditional production for the participating areas at a Euro-Mediterranean level and to underline the opportunities to enhance this legacy in the field of tourism. The conference would work best as an integrated event aimed at dif-fusing knowledge, traditions and products; it would be an important place for cultural exchange from diverse origins but with shared roots and potential. In this occasion, the “Traditional Euro-Mediterranean Menu” could be launched.
