The project will develop new models for the work and study activities in the reception centres (voluntary work model, tutoring system and participative methods) which can later be mainstreamed to other reception centres. The starting point in the project planning has been to take into account that the operational environment of the project is not just the reception centre but that it is essential to widen the activities to the whole society. The national partners include a great number of associations, educational establishments and NGOs which will facilitate the creation of new types - and more diverse - work and study activities for the asylum seekers.

Objective

The project will create new cooperation models for the work and study activities of the asylum seekers. The models can be applied in different operational environments (rural/urban) and throughout the EU. For asylum seekers employment means economic independence from the support systems of the society; having a job improves the individual's sense of his own competence and his/her life management skills. The subprojects of the DP will arrange courses for the asylum seekers (language, ADP, expression skills, studies related to life management and society). The subprojects will also organise work activities which will be implemented in the form of voluntary work for the public good and in the form of study visits to workplaces.

The project aims to optimise the integration of asylum seekers and migrants through a holistic approach and through the sharing of knowledge, experience and expertise from each of the projects being operated by the partners.

Becoming Visible

Rationale

Hankkeessa kehitetään vastaanottokeskusten työ- ja opintotoimintaan uusia toimintamalleja (talkootyömalli, tutorjärjestelmä ja osallistavat toimintatavat), jotka ovat myöhemmin siirrettävissä muihinkin vastaanottokeskuksiin. Hanke on lähtökohtaisesti suunniteltu niin, että toimintaympäristönä ei ole vain vastaanottokeskus vaan toimintaa laajennetaan myös ympäröivään yhteiskuntaan. Hankekumppaneina on paljon yhdistyksiä, oppilaitoksia ja järjestöjä, joka edesauttaa mahdollisuuksia kehittää turvapaikanhakijoille uudenlaista ja monimuotoisempaa työ- ja opintotoimintaa.

Objective

Projektin aikana luodaan uusia yhteistoimintamalleja turvapaikanhakijoiden työ- ja opintotoimintaan. Malleja voidaan soveltaa erilaisissa toimintaympäristöissä (maaseutu/kaupunki) koko EU:n alueella. Turvapaikanhakijoille työllistyminen mahdollistaa taloudellisen riippumattomuuden yhteiskunnan tukijärjestelmistä, mikä lisää yksilön kompetenssin tunnetta ja elämänhallintaa. Osaprojektien keskeisinä toimintamuotoina ovat turvapaikanhakijoille ideoitavat kurssit (kieli-, atk- ja ilmaisutaidonkurssit sekä elämänhallintaan ja yhteiskuntaan liittyvät opinnot) ja yleishyödyllisenä talkootyönä ja työhön tutustumisena toteutettava työtoiminta.
