The target group of the TARU project is minority group artists, primary target group consists of immigrant artists representing minority cultures as well as disabled artists. The target group of the project work as freelancers in free artist groups; their income rate is often low due to lack of work opportunities. It is almost impossible for these artists to get training in the field of art. Minority group artists' work may be professionally implemented and internationally interesting but often remains unnoticed alongside mainstream art. TARU project brings their work to the attention of the larger public by making use of the various media. The project also offers guidance in producing art, and organizes training for artists belonging to the target group.

Objective

The objective of TARU-project is to increase the target group's employment.The project brings their work to the attention of the larger public by making use of the various media, for example, television, the internet, mobile services and digital printing. The TARU project organizes training for artists belonging to the target group as well as those involved in their productions. It endeavours, in this way, to augment the sale of cultural products and to promote the employment of artists. The project also works on changing the attitudes of authorities, potential employers, etc.

TARU

Rationale

TARU-projektin kohderyhmänä ovat vähemmistötaiteilijat, ensisijaisesti maahamuuttajataiteilijat, pienten vähemmistökulttuurien taiteilijat sekä vammaistaiteilijat. Kohderyhmän taiteilijat työskentelevät freelancereina ja vapaissa taiteilijaryhmissä, jolloin taiteilijoiden ansiotaso jää usein hyvin alhaiseksi, koska työtilaisuuksia on vähän. Näiden taiteilijoiden on vaikeaa, joskus lähdes mahdotonta saada taidealan koulutusta. Vammais- ym. vähemmistöryhmien taide voi olla ammattimaisesti toteutettua ja kansainvälisesti kiinnostavaa, mutta jää usein valtavirran varjoon. TARU-projekti esittelee kiinnostavia, mutta mediassa vähälle huomiolle jääneitä kohderyhmän taiteilijoita ja heidän tuotantoaan. Projekti myös tukee kohderyhmän työllistymistä tarjoamalla heille tuotantoneuvontaa sekä järjestämällä koulutusta.

Objective

TARU-projektin tavoitteena on parantaa kohderyhmän työllistymistä. Projekti nostaa kohderymän taiteilijoiden töitä suuren yleisön tietoisuuteen käyttäen hyväksi median keinoja, mm. televisiota, internetiä, mobiilipalveluja ja digitaalista painamista. Taru-projekti tarjoaa taiteilijoille tuotantoneuvontaa ja järjestää koulutusta sekä taiteilijoille että heidän taidetuotannossaan toimiville, pyrkien siten lisäämään kulttuurituotteiden myyntiä ja taitelijoiden työllistymistä. Projekti pyrkii myös tekemään asennemuokkausta eri tahojen kuten viranomaisten ja taiteilijoita mahdollisesti työllistävien parissa.
