The Village Economy ascii version

Due to structural change and the mass migration from rural areas to towns inhabitants of rural areas are loosing services, income and social networks. Especially well aducated women have only a little choise to work in rural areas.The knowledge how to use the social economy in practise, like new co-operation, is too low level in rural areas for example in care and social services, environmental and cultural services and activities. The Social ecomomy is a practical way to create new services to inhabitants of rural areas as well as source of livelihood to people, who need more possibilities to work and perquisities.

Objective

Objectives: 1) To work out and test methods of the social economy suited to the Finnish countryside, 2) To improve the wellfare in rural areas, 3) To develop new opportunities and employment in, for example, cultural, social, care and environmental services, 4) To strengthen the economic life and structure within villages in rural areas, 5) To strengthen also the local Village Associations and cooperatives in rural areas, 6) In the longer run: to develop a strategy of social economy suited to the nationwide village programme, to the regional villages programmes and to the economic planning on development on villages.

The Village Economy

Rationale

Talouselämän rakennemuutoksen myötä muutto kasvukeskuksiin on kiihtynyt, maaseudun työpaikat ovat vähentyneet, palvelut heikentyneet ja maaseutuyhteisöjen henkinen ja taloudellinen hyvinvointi on järkkynyt. Erityisesti koulutetuilla naisilla on vain niukasti tarjolla työmahdollisuksia maaseudulla. Yhteisötalouden sovellutuksia, kuten uusosuustoimintaa, tunnetaan ja osataan soveltaa maaseudulla liian vähän esimerkiksi hoiva-, ympäristö-, yhdyskunta- ja kulttuurityössä. Yhteisötalouden keinoilla voidaan luoda palveluita maaseudun asukkaille ja toisaalta toimeentuloa niille, jotka tarvitsevat lisäansioita.

Objective

Tavoitteet: 1) Suomalaiselle maaseudulle soveltuvien yhteisötalouden muotojen testaaminen ja kehittäminen, 2) Maaseudun hyvinvoinnin parantaminen, 3) Uusien työmahdollisuuksien luominen esimerkiksi hoiva-, ympäristö- ja kulttuuripalvelujen alalla, 4) Lähitalouden vahvistaminen Suomen maaseudulla, 5) Kyläyhdistysten ja -osuuskuntien vahvistaminen, 6) Pidemmällä tahtäimella yhteisötalouden strategian luominen valtakunnalliseen kyläohjelmaan, maakunnallisiin kyläohjelmiin ja kyläsuunnitelmiin.
